04/11/2009 - Kansas City, MO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - CC Sabathia dazzled on the mound to get his first win as a Yankee, as New York made short work of the Kansas City Royals, 6-1, in the second installment of a three-game set from Kauffman Stadium.
Sabathia (1-1) threw 7 2/3 innings of scoreless, six-hit ball while fanning six batters for the Yankees, who won their third in a row after starting the season with two consecutive losses. Jose Veras recorded the final four outs and gave up the lone run.
Nick Swisher went 2-for-3 with a triple, a homer, two walks, three runs driven in and three runs scored in the win. Jorge Posada had two doubles and drove in three runs, while Xavier Nady had two hits. Johnny Damon scored twice in the win. New York's first baseman Mark Teixeira did not play due to a sore left wrist.
Tony Pena drove in the lone run for Kansas City, which dropped its second straight game to move to 2-3 on the young season. Mark Teahen scored the run in defeat.
Horacio Ramirez (0-1) was saddled with the loss after yielding all six runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings of work.
The Yankees got on the board in the first inning. Damon had a one-out single, and Swisher followed with a walk before Hideki Matsui lined out. Posada then made it 2-0 with a double to right.
Derek Jeter singled to lead off the third and came around to score two batters later as Swisher slugged a triple to right field. Matsui grounded out, but Posada kept it going with an RBI double to left, making it 4-0.
Damon drew a one-out walk in the fifth before Swisher launched a 1-1 fastball over the fence in left to make it 6-0. Matsui followed with a double that chased Ramirez in favor of Robinson Tejeda, who got out of the inning without any further damage.
After a few scoreless innings, Teahen drew a leadoff walk for KC off Veras in the ninth. Brayan Pena then flied out to Damon in left, but Mike Jacobs put two runners in scoring position with a double. Tony Pena grounded to Robinson Cano at second, which drove in a run to get the Royals on the board. Willie Bloomquist followed with a groundout to end the game.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:

Oddsmakers have released the odds for the 2009 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry has been made the opening favorite.
Seattle took Curry with the fourth overall pick in April's NFL draft and plan on inserting him into its starting lineup right away. The Hawks traded linebacker Julian Peterson in the offseason, so Curry is expected to have a significant role in Seattle's defense next year and that's one of the primary reasons he is the favorite to win the NFL ROY Award.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook MySportsbook.com have made Curry a 5/1 favorite to win this year's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. Given that he was the best defensive prospect in this year's draft and how he'll have plenty of opportunities to make plays in '09, Curry offers a ton of value at 5/1.
Another thing working for Curry is the position he plays. A linebacker has won the defensive ROY award six straight times and eight of the last nine years. Jerod Mayo, Patrick Willis, DeMeco Ryans, Shawne Merriman, Jonathan Vilma, Terrell Suggs, Kendrell Bell and Brian Urlacher were the most recent linebackers to take home the award.
Following Curry at 5/1 are Tyson Jackson (Chiefs) at 7/1, James Laurinaitas (Rams) at 8/1, Brian Orakpo (Redskins) at 10/1, Rey Maualuga (Bengals) at 10/1 and Jerry Peria (Falcons) at 10/1.
All the players mentioned above are expected to start for their respective teams, but Jackson and Peria are going to have a tough time being recognized on a national level given they're both defensive linemen. D-linemen rarely put up the numbers that it takes to win an individual award like the ROY.
A couple of players with some value are Clay Matthews (Packers) at 12/1 and Larry English (Chargers) at 15/1. Matthews is expected to start at outside linebacker in Green Bay's new 3-4 defense and could rack up a ton of tackles. English, who was an impressive player at Northern Illinois, is expected to be a situational pass rusher for the Chargers and could rack up a ton of sacks.
